Just as it was the case a few weeks ago, today’s “disc of the week” will be a vinyl compilation: the first volume of “RARE ROCKABILLY”, a four records series released in the U.K. in 1975 by MCA Records, and dedicated to rockabilly treasures from the US DECCA label and its subsidiaries (BRUNSWICK, CORAL, …)

Comme ce fut le cas il y a quelques semaines, le "disque fil rouge" de cette édition sera une compilation vinyle : le premier volume de "RARE ROCKABILLY", une série de quatre disques éditée à partir de 1975 par le label MCA Angleterre  et proposant les trésors rockabilly du label américain DECCA et de ses marques subsidiaires ou associées (BRUNSWICK, CORAL, ...).

Today’s program is an “Elvis Special”, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the King’s first ever professional recording session at Sam Phillips’ SUN STUDIOS on July 5th and 6th 1954.
The second part of today’s show will be made of well known hits by Elvis, but in alternate versions, mostly not available in stores. All other tracks by other artists have an Elvis connection as well.
A must for Elvis fans.

Today, the record of the week won’t be an LP from a single artist, but a rock ‘n’ roll compilation called “PUT YOU CAT CLOTHES ON”, the first a three record set released in 1973-74 by SUN Records and presented here on the british label PHONOGRAM (reference 6467 025).
Next to that, you’ll hear, among others, several tracks sung by less known artists in the “Elvis PRESLEY” style.

Record of the week is "MR. DYNAMO", the 2nd LP on Roulette by Ronnie Hawkins And The Hawks, released at the beginning of 1960. Less “rocking” than his first one from 1959, it nevertheless features several excellent songs; among others, slow numbers as they could make them at the time.
